Adopt Pit Bull Terriers
FLYNN: Hurricane Ike stray, adopted! He has a great home with
his foster turned forever home and enjoys attending APBT get
togethers and being an ideal pit bull. Flynn was one of the lucky
few 11 pit bulls allowed to be removed from the Houston SPCA by
rescues like Scout's Honor, out of a thousand pit bull/mixes that
weren't as lucky.

Puddin' 10.23.08 at 38#, first day in our care Puddin' 1.20.09, at a healthy 45#
ADOPTED! 4/09
Poor Puddin' was found as a starving stray outside BARC, Houston's notorious city pound. A kind samaritan was forced to
turn her into BARC but alerted Scout's Honor Rescue that she had only three days to be claimed and Camp Pit Bull offered to
foster Puddin' due to her obvious gentle temperament. Puddin' loved kids and really wanted to be part of a family and got along
as well as can be expected with another female pit bull, Inky. She loved to play with male dogs and was placed in a home with
both after six months of manners training and being hopeful at adoption events.

Twilight was seized as a cruelty case by local animal control, as he was starving on a chain,
standing in feces for so long that it had burned his feet and rear area. Thanks to a generous sponsor, he
was vetted & neutered and is being teated for heartworms. He's surprisingly well adjusted and likes all
people and gets along well with our females. Twilight has no issues beyond falling back on his rowdy habits
like jumping or mouthing when excited, but each day sees less of this action. He's highly food motivated,
learning basic housemanners and is crate trained and housebroken. He will bark if he hears a loud outside
noise but quiets on command and will make a good watchdog if needed. Twilight is medium activity indoors
but will settle down for a good chew and rest and shows a lot of potential with an experienced owner. He's
adoptable directly from Camp Pit Bull, contact wendy@camppitbull.com for info.
Bevo 3/09 living at the Corridor of Cruelty

Bevo 4/26 with a full vet check up and ready for a new home!
|
Bevo is a red and white young male American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was living in north Houston's Corridor of Cruelty,
lucky to be cared for by a devoted rescue who keeps many food stations and helps get Corridor dogs vetted and rehomed.
After several trips to bring him to Camp Pit Bull left me empty-handed, I finally found him the morning after a long flood
producing night of storms. Bevo was someone's pet once as he likes all people and is very relaxed in all environments. He is
crate trained, rides well in the car and once he's neutered, he'll be introduced offlead to new dogs and begin basic
housemanners training. Bevo's laid back and will fit in well with your pack, just as he did in his free roaming, hard scrabble
days running with a small female pack of pit bull mixes. Amazingly, Bevo had only hookworms and a few healing lacerations.
Wouldn't this cute dude make a great best friend? Even my Aggie vet agreed and didn't hold his name against him. :-)

After training Inky to deserve her Canine Good
Citizen award and her Therapy Dog International
certification, I've decided to adopt her myself and
continue her path on being an ambassador for the
American Pit Bull Terrier as both a pet and a positive
asset to the community through service. Our plans
include becoming a Reading Dog who will visit
schools and give a non-judgemental ear to shy
readers.
Inky was tied to a pole in a neighborhood, covered in
scabby mange and overbred. She was far from being
used up and discarded! A heartfelt Thank You to
Scout's Honor Rescue who allowed us to immediately
foster her. Camp Pit Bull exists for dogs like Inky, left
in shelters and roaming as strays whose potential as
great family dogs and assets to their breed will go
unnoticed without intervention.

Gypsy was on her last day at a local shelter when we decided to
become their first foster and bring her home for housemanners
training. She became housebroken and crate trained and heavily
socialized for ten weeks before being sent to another local no kill
shelter under the original shelter's orders. It was difficult knowing
that we'd put so much emotional and training investment into Gypsy
just to have her sent to another facility, but again, we were the first
foster the shelter had ever had and I assume they didn't realize how
long some dogs take until the right home comes along. She was
adopted after several months and I hope they're taking great care of
her, she deserved a good life after watching all her pups be adopted
while her euthanasia date loomed.

Badger is one tuff little blue guy! Only 10 weeks old, he had a painful home ear crop and was attacked by a larger dog
who tore up his skull and neck. As if that wasn't traumatic enough, Badger remained unclaimed in the city shelter and on
death row, as pit bulls there are either reclaimed by owners, pulled by rescue or euthanized in three days. His belly is still
swollen from his coccidia, hookworms and malnutrion but he's amazingly alert and looks into your eyes for direction.
Badger is a firecracker, already shaking his stuffed toys hard and pulling the leash like a tug toy, hoping you'll keep
laughing while watching with his flashing rascally eyes! Blue American Pit Bulls are not rare and are in all the city shelters
here, most being euthanized due to lack of interest or breed stipulations. Please consider a shelter or rescued pit bull, don't
encourage breeding of pet quality dogs when so many are being killed.

Humvee was a bite case from the city shelter, pulled minutes before he was to be euthanized after his owner couldn't pay his
fines. Humvee is about eight months months old, fairly small at about 35# and a typical American Pit Bull Terrier puppy with a
friendly nature and pocket pit bull size. His "bite case" was probably due to his not being discouraged from jumping and
mouthing, as he hasn't shown any signs of being fearful or aggressive in our care and does fine with other dogs. Humvee really
wants his own family so he can shine, please consider adopting him! Love to throw toys and possibly train a disc dog? HumVee's
your guy! Contact wendy@camppitbull.com so HumVee can roll his way into your heart.
